Down Our Way
Royal Exchange Theatre (2012)
DOWN OUR WAY was a pupil-led, creative walking project run by the Royal Exchange Theatre working with Year 5 children from Crumpsall Lane and Cravenwood Primary Schools (Manchester), supported by PwC.
Over the course of 16 sessions, working simultaneously in both schools, the children explored the walking journey between their schools and found creative ways of mapping this route through drama, soundscape, film, photography, story and visual mapping. The project outcome was a creative walk between the two schools, led by the children for their parents and carers. This interactive, creative walk-with-a-difference included moments of promenade performance, story, sound-worlds and townscape art.
DOWN OUR WAY was delivered as part of a longer-term partnership between the Royal Exchange Theatre, PwC and Crumpsall Lane and Cravenwood Primary Schools, which I managed from 2006 – 2012.
