Futureworlds
Royal Exchange Theatre (2013)
Throughout 2013 I worked as part of the core delivery team for FUTUREWORLDS – an immersive installation in The Studio at the Royal Exchange Theatre complete with exhibitions, performances, speeches and opportunities for critical debate. Created by 492 young people and adults from across the North West working in partnership with artists, theatre-makers, teachers, activists and elders, the event provided a great opportunity for audiences of all ages to come together and explore the important issues that young people face – a vivid snapshot from the youth of today for the society of tomorrow…
At the centre of the FUTUREWORLDS week was Future Focussed – a day of discussion and debate organised and hosted by a team of Young Leaders which included keynote speeches and a series of workshops (all designed and led by young people) which tackled some of the biggest issues facing young people today in creative and thought-provoking ways.
FUTUREWORLDS combined elements of ‘traditional’ exhibition with live performance, film, and pop-up events, and took 1,013 visitors on a journey inside the imaginations, visions and beliefs of young people (and some old people too). It was presented as part of Truth about Youth at the Royal Exchange.
