To accompany the MIF production FlexN Manchester, I produced The D.R.E.A.M Ring in collaboration with Brooklyn-based Flex dance pioneer Reggie ‘Regg Roc’ Gray.
The D.R.E.A.M. Ring (Dance Rules Everything Around Me) is a dance competition format developed by Regg Roc, which honours the culture of the street dance community, encouraging dancers to go head to head with each other and ‘battle’ with an emphasis on creativity, innovation and storytelling.
For MIF15 we presented a special introduction to the D.R.E.A.M. Ring for UK dancers and audiences. Opening with a cypher space for individual dancers to battle head to head, the event then moved into tag-team and two-man rounds, offering UK dancers the opportunity to learn more about these distinctive battle styles, share experiences and learn more about the world of the D.R.E.A.M. Ring.
