East of the Sun, West of the Moon
East of the Sun, West of the Moon (September 2017 – January 2018)
East of the Sun, West of the Moon was a brand new collaboration between NewcastleGateshead Initiative, Newcastle City Council and outdoor arts experts Walk the Plank. Taking place on Newcastle’s Town Moor on 31 December 2017, the event celebrated New Year’s Eve in theatrical style with a beastly bonfire and a breath-taking firework display.
Taking inspiration from Norse mythology and local folklore, the event also included processions of masked people from local community groups who took part in artistic workshops to create masks and develop their performance and movement, before performing in the fire-lit event on the night itself.
I produced the event on behalf of Walk the Plank, leading on relationship development with the Client, development of the participatory programme and with a general overview of the effective delivery of the project.
